Kick Pleat's New Digs
Favorite Austin boutique opens doors to sleek new downtown storefront
After nearly a decade as a fashionable fixture in the West 12th Street neighborhood, Austin boutique Kick Pleat opens the doors of its new location. Conveniently located at 624 N. Lamar Blvd., in the former Emeralds space, the new Kick Pleat offers a fresh look at the shop’s chic inventory.
“We needed to grow,” owner Wendi Martin says. “We had been in our previous space for about nine years and we just started to bust at the seams. We started looking for the perfect place about two years ago and finally this space opened up and it was a dream come true.”
The 5,000-square-foot space is a shopping sanctuary. Designed by Austin-based architect Jamie Chioco, it's dressed with a neutral color palette, luxe marble and wood accents, and racks full of gorgeous threads.
With more space, the new Kick Pleat carries new designers as well. Jill Sander, ATP Shoes, Issey Miyake, Dusan, Norse Projects, are showcased in the bright, minimalist space.
Martin says that while the boutique’s new look is a fabulous upgrade, the signature Kick Pleat shopping experience customers adore will remain the same. “We want to make the customer feel really special. Hopefully they feel that way when they walk through our door.”
The new Austin storefront is only one of Martin’s recent accomplishments. She recently opened a storefront in Houston, and the boutique’s online shop is garnering more business than ever before.
“I want to let these two places thrive and grow,” Martin says. “It’s super important for us to give the best customer service out there and I can’t wait to deliver that to customers.”
