Surprising Austin ZIP code declared one of the hottest in America
Things are hot, hot, hot in suburban Austin. In fact, North Austin boasts one of the hottest ZIP codes in America.
Realtor.com recently revealed the top 10 ZIP codes in the country, based on an analysis by the website's data experts. These areas are affordable, have healthy local economies and offer a wealth of job opportunities. Additionally, homes in these 'hoods sell four to nine times faster than the national average.
Austin ZIP code 78729 ranks No. 8 on the list. The area, which runs north of Highway 183 and encompasses the Jollyville neighborhood, gets major props for its proximity to tech companies like Apple, IBM and Dell.
"Jollyville also feeds into one of the best school districts in the area, Round Rock ISD, and offers affordably priced homes that are perfect for first-time buyers," notes Realtor.com. Millennials make up 23 percent of the population and the share of households earning $100,000 is expected to grow 23 percent in the next five years.
Two other Texas locales sizzle on Realtor.com's list. At No. 4 is 75023 in Plano, where 36 percent of households earn $100,000 or more. At No. 6 is 78247 in San Antonio, which boasts proximity to the corporate headquarters of Valero and USAA among others.
The hottest ZIP code in the country is 02176 in Melrose, Massachusetts, an affordable oasis near Boston and Cambridge.
