According to Realtor Camille Abbott, one of the most coveted neighborhoods in Austin is Spanish Oaks — and she would know. The real estate expert moved there in 2009 and immediately fell in love.
Abbott has been guiding Austin homeowners since 1984, most recently with Kuper Sotheby's International Realty, and has made it her mission to stay abreast of the city's housing trends.
"I love working in this area because all the homes are unique and have much to offer," Abbott says. "There is contemporary architecture, Santa Barbra-style homes, Tuscan villas, and homes with views, as well as 'lock and leave' properties that are smaller in size but offer a lifestyle for those wanting all that Spanish Oaks has, but on a smaller scale. In short, there is something for everyone."
The gated community is built around the private Spanish Oaks Golf Club, and also boasts privacy, views, great schools, and an overall great location. There is also a beautiful community pool and lodge that's available for parties.
Across the street from there is a fish camp, where fishing is allowed on a catch-and-release basis, and well-used walking paths meander through the neighborhood.
Located adjacent to this neighborhood is the custom-built property at 11211 Musket Rim. Studded with massive oak trees, the property is set on more than 39 acres and has the iconic Barton Creek running directly through it. The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate makes it feel like you're living in the country while remaining only 30 minutes from downtown Austin and 10 minutes from restaurants, shopping, and entertainment in the Hill Country Galleria.
In addition to the one-bedroom, one-bath guest house — complete with its own full kitchen, living area, and fireplace — the property includes a sport court, pool, spa and barn. It's also fenced and cross fenced with no restrictions, and is both agriculturally exempt and free of HOA fees. List price is $9,900,000.
