Art-lovers convene at stately Seven Oaks estate for an elegant party
Artist Howard Lamar recently displayed a stunning series of works for a one-night-only event at a home in the elite Austin community of Seven Oaks, but it was hard to tell if guests were more impressed with the art or the venue itself.
Held at 216 Brandon Way, "An Evening of Art and Celebration" featured dozens of pieces from Lamar's 50-year career and highlighted his series Kindness & Generosity. The sprawling estate that hosted the event feels less like a residence and more like an Italian villa resort, and proved its value with a serious capacity to entertain.
The private home sits on a gated, beautifully manicured 1.6 acres and offers an open floorplan, with three exquisitely designed living spaces, a decadent media room, impressive home office, and a chef-worthy kitchen.
Listed at $2.5 million, the home showcased how effortlessly it is prepared for upscale events and large family gatherings. Lamar's event comfortably welcomed guests throughout the evening without overcrowding; the open floorplan seamlessly transitions from room to room.
Kat Brooks, of Kuper Sotheby's International Realty, coordinated the evening. She noted why she chose the home, explaining that it "embodies grandeur with its bold lines and striking architecture. Groundbreaking art, such as Howard's, deserves an equally dramatic backdrop."
Lamar has garnered international attention for his craft and takes a strong influence from modern French artists. He showcased a broad range of mediums: watercolor, stone lithographs, drypoints, pen and ink, etchings, glass, mixed media, and more.
