Details revealed for new downtown hotel restaurant helmed by Top Chef winner
Since New York City-based hotel developer Sydell Group announced in October 2017 that it was renovating the former Radisson Hotel & Suites on Cesar Chavez Street and Congress Avenue, Austinites have eagerly awaited details on the three restaurants teased in the initial plans. In a February 20 release, the newly christened Line ATX finally revealed the full line-up. Needless to say, TGI Friday’s they ain’t.
The anchor restaurant brings a certified culinary celebrity to Austin. Kristen Kish, popular cookbook author, Top Chef season 10 winner, and co-host of Travel Channel’s 36 Hours, will helm Arlo Grey overlooking Lady Bird Lake. Although the menu has not been set yet, Kish has a background in French and Italian food as the former chef de cuisine of highly lauded Boston restaurant Menton.
Justin Ermini, most recently the executive chef of luxury hotel Las Alcobas Mexico City, will helm an as-yet unnamed bar and casual joint at the Congress Avenue corner featuring burgers, salads, and sides. Ermini, who has stints at exclusive Connecticut resort Mayflower Inn and Michelin-starred Jean Georges in New York, will also oversee the hotel’s culinary operations as executive chef, including snacks at the infinity pool bar.
P6, a rooftop lounge from ex-Counter 3. Five.VII executive chef Damien Brockway, will overlook the lake. The concept was not been revealed with the announcement, but chances are the cuisine will veer away from the delicate plating of Counter.
Rounding out the eateries will be the first Austin outpost of cult Los Angeles shop Alfred Coffee. In addition to a full coffee and tea menu, the lobby shop will also offer grab-and-go foods.
