Mueller district finally nabs location of this famous Austin restaurant

Residents of Austin's Mueller district will have a new dining hot spot in fall 2018. Kerbey Lane Cafe has announced plans to open in the neighborhood's "vibrant activity hub" of Aldrich Street.
"Bringing Kerbey Lane Cafe to Mueller is a dream come true for us as well as the neighborhood," says chief executive officer Mason Ayer, in a release. "We’re big fans of Mueller’s diverse, sustainable, and walkable community and are looking forward to being a part of this dynamic urban village in the heart of Austin."
You may recall that in summer 2013, 100 Mueller residents staged an "eat in" at the cafe's flagship location, to prove just how much they love the local chain.
"For the 100-plus people who came to show their support in person back in 2013, and many other Mueller residents, being able to walk or bike to Kerbey Lane in their neighborhood is going to be a dream come true," says Kathy Sokolic, who organized the event.
Located on the ground floor of the Texas Mutual Insurance Company headquarters, this will be the eighth location of Kerbey Lane. It will boast more than 200 seats, including some al fresco. While it won't be open 24 hours a day, the release says it will likely be open from 6 am to midnight.
The brick-and-mortar will debut next fall, but Kerbey Lane is participating in the upcoming Aldrich Street Celebration on September 14, where Mueller residents can nosh on its famous queso and more.
