Prosit from the Drafthouse
New beer series puts the 'draft' back in Alamo Drafthouse
The Alamo Drafthouse is looking to put the “draft” back in “Drafthouse” with the launch of a new monthly beer series.
Starting this month, Austin Alamo Drafthouses will explore the countless brews available around the world. Each month will focus on a different beer style — special draft and bottle selections from local breweries will be available and events will include exclusive keg tappings and meet-the-brewer nights.
“With this new program, we’re looking to the beer geeks on our staffs to really highlight different seasonal styles for our guests in our theaters and in our Glass Half Full Tap Room,” said Alamo Drafthouse Beverage Director Bill Norris.
So what’s the lucky first brew? Since this month marks the traditional beginning of Oktoberfest in Germany, the Alamo Drafthouse will pay tribute to the Märzen beers that are commonly on tap at Oktoberfest celebrations around the world.
Märzen beers are normally dark in color and rich with a malty flavor. Next time you’re at an Alamo Drathouse or at the Half Glass Full Taproom, enjoy Oktoberfest brews from Shiner, Brooklyn Brewery and Sam Adams. Don’t worry, beer snobs, there will also be a uniquely curated selection of local and regional brews available.
On the horizon for the new series, guests can expect months devoted to other popular styles, including IPAs, brown ales, pilsners and more.
