Bourbon Bash
Austin's baddest bartenders duke it out in bourbon bash
On Tuesday, September 24 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm at Mercury Hall, some of Austin’s best bartenders will be whipping up amazing cocktails using more than 30 American whiskies during Bourbon, Bluegrass and BBQ, a celebration of three of the best things in Texas. End Bourbon Heritage Month in style, sipping cocktails from the most talented mixologists in Austin.
Now in it’s fourth year, the Austin chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild (USBG) brings together 16 area bartenders together in friendly competition. The participating USBG member bartenders represent some of the city’s best cocktail venues including: drink.well., Midnight Cowboy, Contigo, The W Austin, Whisler’s, East Side Showroom, NoVa, The League, Esquire Tavern (San Antonio), and The Turtle (Brownwood, TX).
Using a randomly selected bourbon, contestants must craft an original cocktail to be judged during a live competition held at the event. The winner earns the spot as the official USBG Austin ambassador at Portland Cocktail Week held in Portland, OR in October.
As the name suggests, Bourbon, Bluegrass and BBQ, is about more than just cocktails. It also will have all you can eat barbecue and live music from the Sour Bridges and The Possum Posse.
Celebrated in tandem with Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) Benefit day, the event proceeds will benefit the Alliance, which is USBG Austin’s 2012-2013 philanthropic beneficiary.
