A good cocktail doesn't always have to be complicated, as top Austin bartender Ty Yi demonstrates in the third episode of Old Forester's Cocktail Chronicles.
Follow along with the video as he mixes up a sweet take on the old fashioned, using a house-made syrup of pineapple, star anise, black peppercorn, and champagne vinegar.
Yellow Fever Old Fashioned
Yields one drink
2 ounces Old Forester 1897 Bourbon Whisky
.25 ounces pineapple base syrup
2 dashes Jamaican #1 Bitters
1 lemon
Add bourbon, syrup, and bitters to a large glass. Add ice and stir.
Add ice to a new rocks glass and express lemon oil over the glass.
Strain the drink into a new glass, and garnish with lemon peel.
