Austin bartender performs coffee alchemy with this after-dinner drink
Cocktail hour doesn't necessarily have to mean "before dinner," as top Austin bartender Lucas Felek explains in the sixth episode of Old Forester's Cocktail Chronicles.
He's making up a version of the old fashioned called the Fashion Cafe, which employs coffee and chocolate to give the drink some after-dinner smoothness — and a little bit of pep.
Follow his lead in the video, then stir up one for yourself with the recipe.
Yields 1 drink
2 ounces Old Forester 100-proof Signature Bourbon Whisky
.5 ounce coffee concentrate syrup
3 dashes chocolate bitters
A pinch of coffee grinds
Add bourbon, coffee syrup, and chocolate bitters to a mixing glass, then add ice and stir.
Strain into a new glass over a large format ice cube.
Garnish with cherries, coffee grinds, and orange peel.
