New cocktail lounge The Long Goodbye says hello to East Austin
The Long Goodbye, an East Austin complex that's home to a variety of dining and shopping establishments, is opening a cocktail lounge of the same name on April 26.
The intimate indoor-outdoor cocktail bar at 2808 Manor Rd. is themed after Robert Altman's 1973 film The Long Goodbye, taking inspiration from the film's 20th century classic American setting for its design and cocktail offerings. A signature neon sign welcomes guests into the 1,100-square-foot space, and the interior is furnished with mid-century modern pieces in soft blue and green hues, with art deco details. Guests can also enjoy their cocktails on the outside patio bar.
The Long Goodbye will have two cocktail menus for guests to choose from: The indoor lounge will serve classic cocktails, like the popular espresso martini, while the outdoor bar will serve "agave-forward" beverages, batched cocktails, and frozen drinks. Wine and local craft beer will also be available.
A press release says the average price for cocktails will be about $12, setting The Long Goodbye apart on the affordability scale from other new cocktail concepts opening in Austin. Once open, the bar will host an extended happy hour from 4-7 pm Monday through Friday, featuring $3 wells and Miller High Life, plus half-price cocktails and select draft offerings.

Veteran hospitality duo Charles and Katrina Ferraro teamed up with Charles' brother — custom furniture designer James Ferraro — to bring the cocktail lounge to life. The founding trio also oversaw the creation of the Long Goodbye complex and its tenants, such as Fleet Coffee, food truck La Santa Barbacha, and Howdy's, a Western-themed vintage apparel and home goods shop.
"As East Austin residents, my wife and I look forward to contributing another interesting spot for locals and visitors to get a cocktail or a beer, grab a coffee, eat, and shop on the emerging Manor Road Corridor," said founder Charles Ferraro in a press release. "The cocktail bar we’ve built with James will be a unique space and is sure to be an Eastside fixture for drinking, socializing, and gathering for years to come."
To help kick off the opening, the Long Goodbye will offer drink specials for Sunday brunch from 11 am to 4 pm, with $6 Bloody Marys, margaritas, micheladas, and mimosas. Monthly events will include a trivia night on the third Wednesday of the month, Howdy's Western Market, and the Manor Market.
The Long Goodbye cocktail lounge will be open from 4-10 pm Sunday through Thursday, and "until late" on Fridays and Saturdays. More information about the venue can be found on thelonggoodbyeatx.com.
