it's brunch time
2 Austin eateries make OpenTable list of top brunch spots in U.S.

Perla's brunch is top notch.
Five Texas restaurants have been featured in OpenTable's new list of the "Top 100 Brunch Restaurants" for 2025, including two Austin hotspots on South Congress: Aba and Perla's Seafood and Oyster Bar.
Released annually in preparation for Mother's Day, the list is determined using over 10 million verified diner reviews and dining metrics (such as reservation demand). Restaurants are not ranked, but arranged in alphabetical order by their state and name.
Aba's weekend brunch service is a local favorite, featuring a signature lineup of 10 different types of hummus and other spreads with house-made bread. OpenTable says the crispy potatoes and Brussels sprouts are among the most popular dishes on the menu, which are also available for brunch.
In addition to savory delicacies like the Georgian khachapuri (a cheese-filled bread topped with baked egg) and a short rib shakshuka, Aba also puts a Mediterranean spin on traditional brunch staples. Pomegranate, preserved lemon, and mint adorn the avocado toast, while the açaí bowl includes classic toppings like blueberries, banana, and coconut, as well as pomegranate, dukkah (a blend of nuts, spices, and seeds), and mint.

Perla's wide-ranging weekend brunch menu includes classic cold bar offerings – like oysters, shrimp cocktails, and ceviche – while also offering unique dishes like a tres leches french toast, a lobster and egg white frittata, beer battered fish and chips, a lobster roll, and coconut curry clam chowder.
"Perla's offers fresh fish and oysters flown in daily from both coasts with an emphasis on sourcing from the gulf and locations around the world," the restaurant's OpenTable profile says. "Perla's has Austin’s prettiest oak-shaded patio and a comfortable airy dining room featuring a huge saltwater fishtank, poured concrete oyster bar and open kitchen."
Brunch enthusiasts can make it a full-blown party with Perla's mimosa service, with includes a bottle of Bisol Prosecco served with a choice of fresh orange, grapefruit, or pineapple juices on the side.
The remaining Texas eateries that were highlighted in OpenTable's list are located in Dallas:
