Go behind the scenes of Austin's most popular art show of the year
Austin artists and art aficionados gathered for a night of celebration (and friendly competition) at The Contemporary Austin's annual Five x Seven art sale.
Up for grabs at the popular annual event: one-of-a-kind works donated from more than 300 artists.
On Thursday, February 26, Brazos Hall transformed into a vibrant gallery space for the 16th annual fundraiser, which supports The Contemporary Austin's exhibitions and programs. Artists and guests mixed and mingled, all while sipping cocktails and sampling bites from Austin favorites TRACE, Eden East and Henri's.
Each year, the true highlight of the affair is the art sale when attendees make a mad dash to claim their favorite pieces. This year's 550 works ranged from photographs, paintings and drawings to needlepoint works and sculptures. One of the most unique pieces? A customized "vintage" Nintendo cartridge.
