Cana Wait For Summer
Austin's seasonal nonstop flight to favorite Caribbean hot spot returns

SXSW is over — so let's go on vacation, shall we? And we're not talking about an Austin staycation or a family visit or even a West Texas sojourn. We're talking a genuine tropical paradise where we can enjoy sandy beaches and clear blue waters while sipping a Mamajuana or two.
For the second year in a row, Vacation Express is offering nonstop service from Austin to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the company announced on March 12. The seasonal flight will run from June 1 through July 29.
Swift Air, which operates on behalf of Vacation Express, will take off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport's Barbara Jordan Terminal every Monday at 10:50 am, landing at Punta Cana International Airport at 3:55 pm. Return trips take off from the DR on Sundays at 2:15 pm, landing in Austin at 5:30 pm.
"Punta Cana is one of our most popular destinations, and we're happy to offer another summer of non-stop flights from Austin to this Caribbean paradise during peak travel dates,” said Vacation Express VP of sales and digital strategy Kevin Hernandez in a release, later adding "there are resorts and a beautiful beach for every type of traveler."
Hoping to curate to these different types of travel, the airline/travel service also sells package bundles (read: all-inclusive) for travelers that include air fare, hotels, and food and beverage offerings.
As of press time, the cheapest deal is a six-night stay for $789 per person at Whala! Bravo. On the other end of the cost spectrum, a six-night, all-inclusive deal at the ritzy Le Sivory Punta Cana runs $1,479 for one person.
