Low-cost airline adds new nonstop flight from Austin to sunny SoCal

In April, low-cost airline Frontier announced it was adding 19 new flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, vying for Southwest's spot as the airport's largest carrier. Now, it seems Frontier is doubling down on that effort with the announcement of not one, but two new nonstop flights from the Capital City.
In a June 5 press release, the Denver-based airline said it will expand its Austin service to include Louisville, Kentucky, beginning August 13, and Orange County, California, beginning August 14. Whether you're into horses or Real Housewives, Frontier now has the flight for you.
The ABIA to Louisville International Airport flight takes off Monday and Friday at 12:50 pm, arriving in SDF at 4:02 pm. Return flights take off from Louisville at 4:45 pm and arrive in Austin at 6:05 pm.
Frontier will fly from ABIA to Orange County's John Wayne Airport thrice weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Flights depart from ABIA at 5:28 pm and land at SNA at 6:23 pm. Return flights take off from Orange County at 11:48 am and arrive at AUS at 4:38 pm.
In celebration of its new nonstop to Derby City, Frontier is also offering low-cost fares to Louisville beginning at $34 for travel between August 13 and November 14.
Between the bevy of local restaurants moving in and massive number of new flights taking off, Austin's airport is turning into one cool spot.
