We may not have the Hyperloop One yet, but at least now Vonlane fans can travel in style between Austin and Fort Worth.
The luxury motor coach company — which is known for its roomy, 16-seat buses and complimentary refreshments, Wi-Fi, and satellite TV — is set to open the new route on October 2, just in time for Austin City Limits. There will be service seven days a week.
"When we first launched Vonlane three years ago, we always knew that Fort Worth was in our future," says founder and CEO Alex Danza in a release. "We are proud to finally bring to Cowtown the high-end service that our loyal customers have come to expect. Riders agree: Vonlane is the most comfortable and convenient motor coach experience in the nation."
Business travelers especially like Vonlane for its desk-like seats, and you can even reserve a six-seat conference room that's equipped with monitors for laptop projection. Noise-canceling headphones are available to borrow from the attendant, and beer, wine, and spirits are available for purchase.
The Texas-based company, which launched in 2014, now has routes between all five of Texas' major cities. Presented as an alternative for frequent flyers, a one-way ticket on this luxury liner costs about $100, which is comparable to short-haul flights between Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. To celebrate the new route, a special introductory fare of $79 one-way will be available for riders between Austin and Forth Worth.
Vonlane coaches will depart from Fort Worth four times a day, Monday through Friday, with select departures on Saturday and Sunday. Departures and arrivals will be on the corner of 14th Street and Houston Street, across from the Fort Worth Convention Center and the Fort Worth Water Gardens, outside the Omni Hotel.
In Austin, departures and arrivals are at the Hyatt Regency Austin at 208 Barton Springs Rd. Vonlane also offers service from Austin to Dallas and Houston.
Riders can reserve their seats through the Vonlane website, free mobile app, or by calling 844-866-5263.
