Comedy legend Dave Chappelle surprises San Antonio with 2 last-minute performances

There are few stars who can announce a last-minute performance, release tickets five hours before doors open, and still almost guarantee a sold-out crowd like Dave Chappelle. But the legendary comedian did just that on October 14 when it was announced he was performing that night at San Antonio's Aztec Theatre at 9 pm.
After that show sold out in record time, Chappelle and the Aztec Theatre unveiled another surprise: Chappelle's doing it again ... twice. On October 15, the comedian added two more San Antonio dates: October 15 and October 16. Tickets for both performances go on sale October 15 at 3 pm.
Creator of the Emmy Award-winning Chappelle's Show, the comedian has been popping up all over the country following the release of latest Netflix special, Sticks & Stones. The comedian surprised Houston last week with shows at the House of Blues and popped up in Austin last year with an impromptu (and sold-out) date at the Paramount Theater.
Chappelle has received some backlash for the aforementioned Sticks & Stones, with some critics slamming the comedian for jokes about transgender people, women, and guns, with others calling it uncomfortably necessary in the age of Trump. Of course, controversy is nothing new for Chappelle, someone who once left Hollywood to spend the better part of a decade in hiding.
Tickets for both performances are limited to two per person. To purchase tickets for the Tuesday, October 15, show, click here. For tickets to the Wednesday, October 16, show, go here.
Exact pricing has not yet been released, but it will likely vary by location inside the 1,500-seat theater. Patrons who need wheelchair access or have other accessibility needs should contact the box office at 210-812-4355 for information.
Those who purchase tickets must show identification and the credit card used in the transaction in order to gain entry. Once inside, all attendees will be required to place their phones, cameras, and recording devices in locked bags before heading into the theater.
Doors for each night's show open at 8 pm. For more details, head to the Aztec Theatre.
