UPDATE: ACL Live has announced that the Fiona Apple concert has been postponed. Details for a rescheduled show will be announced soon; all tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.
Well, Fiona Apple fans, you might be in for a disappointing evening.
TMZ is reporting that the waifish chanteuse was arrested yesterday in West Texas in a little border city called Sierra Blanca after hash was found on her tour bus during a routine border check.
This is indeed terrible news for those of us with tickets to her ACL Live show this evening (like this guy!). Depending on paperwork and production, we may or may not get to see her on her triumphant sold-out tour across the country, singing the songs from her brilliant new album, The Idler Wheel...
Sierra Blanca has been described as "the nation's largest sewage dump" and is also the location of arrests for similar possession charges for fellow medicinal musicians Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Lion, as he prefers to be called these days).
Apple is currently being held at Hudspeth County Jail while paperwork gets figured out. So even if she posted bail, she's still got a full day of travel to get to Austin. Will she make it?
ACL Live has posted on their Facebook page that they are still waiting to hear more information before they make a decision on whether or not to cancel the show.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that she can get here and sing "Criminal" for us. Because she will, undoubtedly, receive a standing ovation for that one...
