Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and his wife, Candice, are unloading their home at 1608 Dowling Dr. in Irving. It was once his bachelor pad, but Candice put her pretty stamp all over it, and now someone can benefit from her hard work.
A California contemporary built in 1993, the 5,551-square-foot house is light and bright, with many smart, stylish updates. All the walls and moldings have been repainted; brass fixtures were banished in favor of drum and glass. The living room fireplace now boasts a stacked-stone facade.
The kitchen is clean and white, with quartzite countertops and stainless steel appliances. It’s connected to the large formal dining room, which has a butler’s pantry and a full wet bar with wine refrigerator.
Candice also brought in some cool wallpapers, like a 1950s shuffleboard scene in the downstairs bathroom. Speaking of bathrooms, the master has a new vessel tub, new sinks, a makeup vanity, and two huge walk-in closets.
Most Cottonwood Valley homes have an upstairs master, but the Romos’ home has two bedrooms, including the master, down. The first floor has another private bedroom with en suite bath, perfect for guests, and a private study with built-ins. There are two half-baths on this floor; one is formal, while the other services the pool area.
Upstairs find a large second living area, four spacious bedrooms with walk-in closets, and two Jack and Jill baths. Tony turned one into an exercise room, complete with massage table, massage chair, and a hyperbaric chamber. He took the massage table and the hyperbaric chamber to his new place in Glen Abbey but left the massage chair, if the new buyer is interested.
From the living area there are full views of the private backyard and pool, and if you like the furniture out there, you may be able to work it into the purchase price. The garage can house three cars and ample storage.
The home is located within the gated Cottonwood Valley, which translates to privacy and security. The HOA fees run about $5,400 a year, including security and burglar alarm monitoring. Nicole Andrews has the home listed for $1,050,000.
Just a short jog or golf cart ride away is the Four Seasons Resort & Club at Las Colinas — perfect for another sporty, social couple, no?
