Saturday, May 4 marked the second annual Perfectly Pink Party for Komen Austin. The event, held at North Austin's Shoal Crossing, welcomed over 400 guests for an evening of celebration that was twice as large — and successful — as its 2012 predecessor.
The evening began with a VIPink Cocktail Reception presented by Lexus of Austin, and closed with dancing and desserts at Club PINK! presented by Microsoft Austin. During the main event, guests dined and mingled as the Signature Pink Diamond Awards were announced.
Those recognized for their outstanding service and support were: Nanditha Jagannath and Kheira Ardjani, Komen Austin Race for the Cure Co-Chairs (Outstanding Volunteer); Ana Sierra (Warrior); Dell, Inc. (Community Partner); Yvonne Carroll (Excellence in Advocacy); and The Roesle Family (Outstanding Philanthropist).
Perfectly Pink Party also included a live and silent auction, as well as the Pink & Pizzazz bags presented by Kendra Scott Jewelry. 100 Pink & Pizzazz bags were sold within the first hour of the event for a $100 donation each.
The event, co-chaired by Deb Davis Groves and Martha Coons, raised $290,000, an overwhelming increase from the $126,000 raised in 2012. Funds from the event will support the uninsured and underinsured men and women in the local community who are fighting breast cancer; a portion will fund research.
Next to the government, the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world.
