A premier Texas Gulf Coast getaway is growing by leaps and bounds. Cinnamon Shore, the popular master-planned community in Port Aransas, has unveiled plans for its next phase: a $1.3 billion, 300-acre expansion project that will take 15 to 20 years to complete.
Sea Oats Group, developer of Cinnamon Shore, says the expansion will quadruple the size of the existing beach community, which is best described as a Texas version of celebrated coastal urban developments like Seaside and Rosemary Beach. It is located 40 minutes from Corpus Christi, and less than four hours from Austin.
Cinnamon Shore currently offers approximately 60 acres of coastal living. The family-friendly vacation community — a mix of rentals and owner-occupied vacation homes that range from $600,000 to $2.5 million — boasts beach access, two swimming pools, a casual poolside cafe, and an upscale restaurant that's open for dinner.
The expansion plan will dramatically increase Cinnamon Shore's footprint and amenities. It calls for a 3,300-foot-wide beachfront (almost three times the current offering); multiple swimming pools and lakes; and a mile-long boardwalk. Dozens of restaurants, retail offerings, a spa, hotel, and, of course, new homes are also part of the vision.
Phase II will span both sides of State Highway 361, the main thoroughfare on the island, and will be connected by a golf cart bridge (a popular way to traverse Port Aransas).
"We are proud of the community we have created with phase I of Cinnamon Shore and gratified by how well it has been received," says Jeff Lamkin, CEO, in a release. "We plan to build on what has been a very successful model with this major phase II expansion."
The Cinnamon Shore boutique hotel is expected to debut in 2018; Sea Oats Group plans to start building phase II homes the same year.
