Austin Food & Wine Fest takes over Citywide 86'd
Citywide 86’d will host a special Austin Food & Wine Festival edition of their competition on Friday, April 25 at 10 am at the Central Market Cooking School on North Lamar Boulevard. The popular event will pit chefs from La Condesa, Congress and Uchiko against one another to decide who creates the best appetizer, entrée and dessert. This Citywide 86’d judge roster includes Paul Qui, Arcade Midtown Kitchen Chef Jesse Perez and Food & Wine Publisher Christina Grdovic.
Buffy loves Uchi

Grab your sombrero and maracas, mis amigos: La Condesa is throwing their annual Cinco De Mayo Block Party for the sixth year in a row. On Sunday, May 4, the restaurant will participate in the lively, family-friendly party, celebrating Mexico's rich culinary culture and history. The holiday gathering will feature an array of beverages (margaritas, Mexican beers, aguas frescas) and bites (grilled Mexican street corn and tacos) from La Condesa and an assortment of other Austin purveyors and artisans. The celebration also features face painting, balloon artists, dancing, live music and more.
Bloody Mary comes to life
The first annual Bloody Mary Fest debuts this Sunday at 1 pm — just in time to recover from those stressful holiday family gatherings. The Austin American-Statesman got the buzz about the boozy festival, which was dreamed up by local jewelry designer Dean Fredrick, a self-proclaimed Bloody Mary devotee. The event, which takes place at Shangri-La, is still piecing together a few last-minute details and plans, but other participating places thus far include Licha's Cantina, Parkside, Frank and Rio Rita. The Fest will feature tastings and a competition to see who can create the best Bloody Mary concoction.
Tikis for a cause
Whisler’s is changing up their monthly drink fundraiser with a brand new concoction: The Walking Dead. The adorable Tiki drink is made with Mount Gay Rum, Combier Peach Liqueur, fresh pineapple, citrus juices, grenadine and a Lemonheart Overproof Rum float. For every Tiki sold, the bar will donate $1 to the Austin Music Foundation. What are you waiting for?!
Beer Flights at Easy Tiger
Easy Tiger will host its second beer flight series on April 21-22. The menu includes Dogfish Head Namaste, Dogfish Head Aprihop, Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale and Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. The prices are $8 for one beer flight (four 4 oz. tastings) or $15 for a flight and a tasting board, which includes Chabrin cheese and a baguette, duck and fennel sausage with marmalade, pastrami with rye and mustard and a ginger diamond cookie. The beer flight specials are first come, first served.
