Two airlines that serve Austin-Bergstrom International Airport are adding direct service for Longhorns fans to attend four major out-of-town games during the University of Texas football season.
Most of the new flights are coming from American Airlines, but Southwest Airlines has also joined the initiative.
American Airlines is the official airline sponsor of Texas Athletics. During this fall’s football season, the airline is adding more than 40 special direct flights for these four away games.
Here’s the rundown of the special flights:
- August 30 — UT vs. Ohio State University in Columbus. American Airlines is offering direct flights between Austin and Columbus for this clash of two football titans.
- October 4 — UT vs. the University of Florida in Gainesville. American Airlines has arranged special flights for this game, the first meeting between the two teams since 1940.
- October 18 — UT vs. the University of Kentucky in Lexington. American and Southwest are offering flights for fans attending this matchup.
- November 15 — UT vs. the University of Georgia in Athens. This will be the Longhorns’ first trip to Athens since 1957. American Airlines is providing service to and from Atlanta for this contest against the Bulldogs, who beat the Horns last year in Austin and the SEC Championship.
In all, this adds more than 11,000 extra seats for fans.
“The Burnt Orange faithful have been calling for this kind of service for years and now, airlines are finally answering in a big way. The timing couldn’t be better, with the 2025 season packed with marquee road games in some of college football’s most iconic towns,” the airport said in an announcement.
