Chris Isaak, Elvis Costello, and more descend on Austin City Limits for 2017 Hall of Fame
On Wednesday, October 25, Austin City Limits inducted its fourth Hall of Fame class with a star-studded musical event at the Moody Theater. This year's inductees included Vernon, Texas native Roy Orbison, Rosanne Cash, and the Neville Brothers.
The evening, which was hosted by Chris Isaak, a legend in his own right, featured appearances by Neko Case, Elvis Costello, Trombone Shorty, Brandi Carlile, Ry Cooder, Dr. John, the Mavericks’ Raul Malo, and the Nevilles Band.
Following an evening of unforgettable performances, the all-star lineup gathered together on the Moody Theater stage for one final musical medley, singing "Big Chief" and "Down by Riverside" before finishing out the evening with "Amen."
But the evening wasn't just about the music. Austin City Limits Hall of Fame also paid tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Public Broadcasting Act, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967. The act paved the way for the creation of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Austin's own KLRU, which produces Austin City Limits.
