Qui Strikes Again
Foodie alert: Hot chef Paul Qui opens new East Side King restaurant
If you've already made dinner plans, you’ll wanna reschedule:East Side King on South Lamar Boulevard officially opens today, December 26.
This is the second brick-and-mortar location for the renowned Asian-fusion concept, which originally started in a trailer pioneered by Top Chef winner Paul Qui and co-owner Motoyasu "Moto" Utsunomiya. The year-old Hole in the Wall location was met with great acclaim, as was executive chef/owner Paul Qui’s other award-winning Austin restaurant, Qui.
The new East Side King menu is published on the restaurant’s website, but spoiler alert: expect to see a smorgasbord of classics — such as Poor Qui’s Buns (steamed roasted pork belly buns) and Brussels sprouts salad (fried Brussels sprouts with sweet and spicy sauce, cabbage and an assortment of herbs) — as well as adventurous tacos, such as the chasu pork taco (seared pork with moo shu wrap, hoisin sauce, nori guacamole, onion, cabbage and mixed herbs).
