Go Big or Go Home
Tickets include: Party favors, hosted bar (ends at 11 p.m.), Champagne toast, late-night snack. $100, starts at 9 p.m.
Speakeasy is an easy choice if you want to go big for New Year's Eve: multiple floors of debauchery, glitter and spectacularly overdressed women in uncomfortable shoes. Just watch out for the stairs; they're a doozy. $44 gen admission, 8 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Only one word to describe this event: epic. Thirty cover bands on five stages. Here’s a small sampling of the night's cover offerings: Garth Brooks, Sonic Youth, Dr. Dre, Stereolab, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Melvins, Hole, Pavement and NIN.

If you wore out your VHS copy of Xanadu from constant rewinding to practice all of Olivia Newton John’s amazing disco skating, moves this is the one acceptable event where you can put those moves to good use. Tickets are only $10. If you’re feeling fancy, you can get VIP tickets for $50, which include extra sparkles and a glass of champagne. Starts at 9 p.m.
If you want to ring in the New Year by devoting your night to some amazingly soulful music, this is absolutely the event for you. Every one of these acts is an Austin gem. See them before they become famous in 2014! $20 advance, doors 8 p.m.
Oh Bob, we love you. Thank you for staying in Austin with your dreamy facial hair and continuing to serenade us with your musical delights. You could have left us for New York or L.A., but here you are, another year — the same, wonderful Bob. Tickets start at $35, starts 9 p.m.
Sadly, this will be the last New Year's Eve that beloved East Side spot Cheer Up Charlie's will celebrate at its current address. The owners are thinking of relocating, but for now the news is doors are closing January 15. This is sure to be an epic throw down at the historic club that has housed some of the most ridiculous karaoke and dancing Austin’s ever experienced. Tickets cost $7, 7 p.m. - 2 a.m.
If you’re missing The Highball, check out the Goodnight. This lounge has all the retro trappings of bowling, karaoke and poker tables and smells a lot better too. Tickets $100 per person, 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.
