The Austin Civic Orchestra presents Pictures from Russia, featuring student art inspired by Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. Guests will enjoy Mussorgsky’s masterpiece along with music by other Russian composers as part of the orchestra’s Destination: Europe season. Winning artwork from the ACO’s Paint to Music contest for students in grades 3-12 will be displayed during a pre-concert art show.
The program includes Sleeping Beauty Waltz by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; Horn Concerto, Mvts. II & III by Reinhold Glière, featuring ACO hornist Chris Simpson; Festive Overture by Dmitri Shostakovich and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky.
