The Contemporary Austin will present an outdoor exhibition of new and recent large-scale sculptures by Carol Bove, on view in a meadow stretching along the shore of Lake Austin at its Laguna Gloria campus. With large-scale steel assemblages of new and found elements, Bove reinvents the classic sculpture garden through abstract forms inspired by industrial materials and landscapes. The exhibition is anchored by "From the Sun to Zurich," 2016, a white, spray-painted steel tube sculpture the artist refers to as a "glyph," suggesting a universal spiral or an ancient hieroglyphic language.
During the public opening, guests will enjoy complimentary food and drinks in the Driscoll Villa, a public talk by Bove, and a guided visit to the artworks in the meadow with the artist, who will answer questions and further discuss her work.
