Alt-country rockers Wilco announce 2 Austin dates on major U.S. tour

Few bands in the past 20 years have enjoyed the effortlessly cool status of Wilco, even if fans can be, at times, insufferable in discussing the alt-country act. Hailing from Chicago, Wilco has been a critical darling, with albums such as Yankee Hotel Foxtrot spurring “greatest American band ever” talk in bars and clubs and comparisons to smart rockers Radiohead.
Their live shows have been described by the New York Times as “captivating and expeditionary.” But much to the chagrin of their fans, the band has been on hiatus for a few years, as frontman Jeff Tweedy released his first memoir Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back) and his solo album, Warm, last November.
But now, Wilco is returning to the road and hitting Austin for two shows at ACL Live at the Moody Theater on October 26 and October 27.
The band will begin its tour de Texas in Irving at The Pavilion at the Toyota Music Factory on October 21 and Houston at Revention Music Center on October 25.
So is Wilco the greatest American band ever? Are they the American Radiohead? Locals can discuss these topics at the Austin show. Tickets for the ACL Live show go on sale at 10 am on June 7 and can be purchased online.
