Weekday Warrior: Relaxing Activities for a post-SXSW week
Shhhh. Listen closely. Can you hear it? It’s the hoards of visiting hipsters departing Austin’s neighborhoods. Now that we’ve all survived SXSW, it’s time to enjoy our city on our terms again. Sure, live music may be off the table for a bit, but there’s plenty to partake in that doesn’t involve standing around. Here’s our weekly guide to keep you busy during the days that don’t start with S.
Monday, March 19th

Punch! Comedy Presents: Cringetacular v 4.0 @ Cap City Comedy Club
Comedian Matt Bearden’s weekly comedy spotlight returns with its seasonal dose of politically and culturally insensitive humor. The Cringetacular is the chance for local comedians to pull out all the (pardon the pun) punches, and bring their most offensive and inappropriate material to the stage.
Girlie Night Presents: Bring it On @ Alamo Ritz
No need to bring your A-game to this one, it’s already there. Seriously, though, who doesn’t love a tale of teenage cheerleaders that brings us a glimpse of a pre-pretentious Kirsten Dunst?
Wednesday, March 21st

You may be a little oversaturated on the live music scene, but The Cactus Café is here to ease you back in to the concert-going with this performance from The Austin Chronicle’s runner-up in the best Bluegrass category.
Hope PopUP Market @ Cherrywood Coffee House
The popular Hope Farmers Market expands to the Cherrywood neighborhood with farms, music, art, and community.

NBC’s The X-Factor Auditions @ Frank Erwin Center
Everyone knows that the most entertaining part of any competition singing show is the inevitably painful round of auditions, so why not catch a glimpse on the pre-primetime action?
The Action Pack Presents: The Jiggy Crunk Sing Along @ Alamo Ritz
Grab your best windbreaker, pull out your parachute pants and join The Action Pack for a 90’s (and some 00’s) tribute to the best in both hip hop music and bad fashion.
Friday, March 23rd
The Hunger Games @ All Alamo Locations
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s highly likely that you’re aware of the upcoming release of Gary Ross’ adaptation of the young adult juggernaut The Hunger Games. Jennifer Lawrence stars at Katniss Everdeen, a badass that would snap Bella Swan like a twig. The masses will flock to this one, so it’s best to think ahead and purchase tickets early.
The Paramount Theater Presents: An Evening with Martin Short
Martin Short’s career has spanned from the hilarious classic The Three Amigos to a fabulous cameo in Arrested Development (“Lift me, Dragon!”), to his turn as TV host Jiminy Glick. Join the Paramount Theater in celebrating his varied resume.
There you go, folks. You can practice your spirit fingers, get jiggy with it, and even geek out with Gary Ross all before your long-awaited Saturday sabbatical.
