Sweat It Out
How to keep doing your favorite Austin workouts at home
In the midst of COVID-19, everyone is fearful of the COVID 15 — or the extra pounds we might put on while social distancing in self-quarantine (and ordering all that takeout to help support local restaurants).
Luckily, some of our favorite Austin studios and workout gurus are going digital, offering classes via livestream and other online methods. Some require membership and others are free, but now is definitely the time to explore all the get-fit options from the comfort of your own home.
Yoga
Sukha Yoga
There are around 23 classes being livestreamed on the studio's website, available to those with memberships or passes. Make sure your email is up to date in Sukha's system, register at least 90 minutes before class, and then you'll receive a special link 30 minutes before class starts.
Yoga with Adriene
The popular Austin-based yoga instructor has a wide range of videos available for free on YouTube, even including meditation to help with anxiety.
Practice Yoga Austin
The East 6th Street studio is hosting classes on Facebook Live and YouTube Live, with their instructors accepting donations through PayPal.
Black Swan Yoga
The Austin-based yoga studio is offering free daily live feeds beginning at 6 am, meaning you can get your downward dog on anytime of day. The schedule changes daily and users can donate directly to teachers.
Breathe and Body Yoga
Join everyday for live online classes via Zoom, which will now be included with memberships and class packs, and $15 for new students. You will receive the link to the live classes via email, and everyone will be admitted to the class five minutes before.
Meditation
MindTravel SilentHike
The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower and Lady Bird Lake hikes were supposed to take place recently, but in their absence you can now download the "musical trip into mindfulness" to enjoy on your own schedule, in your own natural setting. The 20-minute sample is free, with the option to purchase longer walks.
Cycling
Love Cycling Studio
Take advantage of the newly launched bike rental program and online streamlining classes via the Train-With app. Riders can access the studio's normal class schedule both live and on-demand for $15 per class (the Love Cycling Studio series does not apply here — those will remain in your account). Need a bike? They'll rent you one for $30 a day, for up to 30 days, through either scheduled pick-up or home delivery, and hand weights are included. Send an email to info@lovecyclingstudio.com to get started.
Dance
Ballet Austin Butler Center for Dance & Fitness
While in-person classes are suspended Instagram classes are happening daily, with a schedule of live times being constantly updated.
General fitness
Camp Gladiator
For the first time ever, Camp Gladiator is launching #HustleFromHome — free, live at-home workouts. These are available to the public and CG members on Camp Gladiator's Facebook page, streaming Monday-Friday, three times a day at 5:30 am, 8 am, and 5:30 pm CT, as well as on Saturdays at 8 am. Each session is led by one of CG's certified personal trainers and requires little to no equipment (mats, dumbbells). Can't make it? The video workouts can be accessed any time of day here.
Femme Power Fitness
Founder Diana Haggerty is hosting free Facebook Live workouts as well as Patreon-exclusive classes for those who donate. She's doing everything from core to stretching to "booty camp," so there's something for every fitness goal.
Crossfit Central
In addition to Facebook workouts, the online fit community is offering one month free of at-home workouts through LiftOff Body (this is already included for current CC members).
FIT Austin
The boutique fitness studio is taking its classes to Instagram, with new workouts appearing daily.
A little bit of everything
All the brands within the Xponential Fitness family of brands — AKT, CycleBar, Club Pilates, Pure Barre, Row House, StretchLab, STRIDE, and YogaSix — are offering free workouts via Facebook Live. There is one workout per concept, per day, or 40 workouts a week.
