It's dog-gone hot (and cat-gone too): No A/C leads to free adoptions at AustinHumane Society
We've all had a miserable few weeks dealing with the domestic issues that inevitably arise during a massive heat wave: rolling blackouts, heatstroke, fire-hot steering wheels. But imagine trying to deal with the 110+ degree record breaking heat with a fur coat, and without air conditioning.
The no-kill shelter, which houses and cares for scores of abandoned dogs and cats, needs your help now more than ever. To help rescue their furry friends from the heat, they're offering free adoptions today and tomorrow.
This is an excellent opportunity for those who have been considering bringing a new pet into your home; the Austin Humane Society is looking for homeowners or renters whose lease allows animals, and require that you're able to take your friend in for a quick check-up within 7-10 days of adoption.
Even if you can't adopt, consider donating to help buy a new A/C unit. The replacement is estimated to cost $12,000.
Head up to the Austin Humane Society today to meet the newest member of your (air conditioned, full-of-love) household.
