Not to be confused with My Buddy and Kid Sister (who doesn’t remember that jingle?) this four-piece folk swing band isn’t child’s play. The LA outfit taps out a rhythm with such aplomb that you’ll be sure to tip-tap your toe along the whole time.

Austin Slam Open Mic Night @ 29th St. Ballroom

Austin’s amateur poets go head-to-head with three rounds of poetic competition, judged by a jury of random audience members. The winner not only receives $50, but gets one step closer to making the national slam team.

Black Red Black @ Highball

The horn trio takes the Highball stage after their KUT live appearance, filmed by local cinephile Scott Hathaway.

Austin Shop Crawl @ Various Locations

Going on all week, this local showcase of artisans offers a way to shop local, and snag unique gifts on the cheap. Over 50 of Austin’s favorite boutiques, restaurants and activities offer 10-20% off to shop crawl badge holders.

ACL Live Presents: Wilco

Easily one of the greatest live bands on the scene today, Jeff Tweedy, Nels Cline and crew make their debut at ACL Live. In addition to hits from their expansive catalogue, they’ll performing tracks from The Whole Love, their eighth studio album.

Action Pack Sing-along: Ye-Z In Love

Kanye West is nothing if not hip-hop’s most controversial third wheel. The Action Pack offers fans a chance to bask in the love of this marriage made in heaven. So go ahead, brush up on your “single ladies” hip gyrations. They’re bound to come in handy.
