A Mosey Through Austin
What are your favorite ways to spend four hours in Austin? Tell Mosey — today
Do you think you have the perfect itinerary for the best four hours a person can spend in Austin?
If so, Mosey wants to hear from you. The relatively new company is aimed at letting its users discover and create new adventures on the go, using its library of custom-created experiences that are accessed through a mobile device. Mosey invites anyone to create and share itineraries for the perfect four hours in any city, from a Sunday afternoon to the ultimate date night.
"We started the company as a class project at California College of the Arts MBA in design strategy program, and it quickly became our thesis project for venture studio," says Eric Persha, CEO. After entering the project in an incubator, Persha and his team began working on it this year after graduation.
"We believe that the best way to experience a city or a neighborhood is through the eyes of a local." — Mosey's Eric Persha
In true form with its mission, Mosey has taken to the road on "The Great Southern Mosey" — driving across country in a 1976 VW bus and visiting numerous cities, including Washington, DC, Atlanta and New Orleans, along the way. The team even made a stop in Texas' quirky art-travel mecca Marfa.
This Sunday, they pull into Austin.
The Sunday event will consist of a Musical Mosey along and around East Sixth Street, seeing four acts performing in four bars, across a span of six hours. Here's the itinerary:
3:30-4:45 — Slam Gibbons at The White Horse
5:30-6:30 — The Zoltars at Scoot Inn
7:00-8:00 — Molly Burch at CheerUp Charlie's
8:30 and beyond — Captain Jim Bradford and Heart & Soul Soundsystem at The Volstead Lounge
"The bus trip is really about living our ethos as a company," Persha says. "We believe that the best way to experience a city or a neighborhood is through the eyes of a local, and the best way for us to get to know these locals is by connecting with them in person. We've met with artists, chefs, farmers, beer brewers, architects, etc. on the trip, and each person has been able to give us their unique perspective on 'their' city.'"
Mosey wants Austinites in on the act, literally. Here's how you can share your perfect four hours in Austin — and if you win, you get to ride along to experience your itinerary, for free, in the Mosey VW bus. But hurry, because the deadline is midnight tonight, Friday the 13th.
