Willie Nelson off the road again after canceling more shows due to illness
Felled by the flu, beloved country music icon Willie Nelson has canceled his February concert dates so he can recuperate. In a February 6 release, a publicist for the singer-songwriter says the 84-year-old Nelson “requires a few extra weeks to recover completely from the flu.”
“He is up and about and looks as healthy as ever but his doctor has determined that his voice needs more time to recuperate to give the performances you all love seeing. Willie will resume the tour in early March. Willie Nelson says, ‘I will see you all down the road,’” the publicist’s release says.
Nelson has been battling health issues over the past few months. In early January, he became short of breath at the outset of a show in Southern California and canceled his remaining tour dates that month, according to Variety. In August 2017, the singer was briefly hospitalized following an appearance in Salt Lake City. Nelson later blamed his respiratory distress on the high altitude.
Wilson splits his time between his Spicewood ranch near Austin and his home on the Hawaiian island of Maui. No word on where the musician will be recuperating.
