Old Settler's Music Festival returns with jam-packed Americana lineup
One of Central Texas' favorite fests is back for its 31st year — and it's as big as ever. Old Settler's Music Festival takes over tiny Tilmon, Texas (so tiny in fact the address says "Dale, Texas") for four days of Americana, bluegrass, and folk music; arts and crafts; specialty foods and craft brews; children’s activities; campground events; jam sessions; and community.
Running April 19-22, highlights of this year's music lineup include Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, I’m With Her (Sara Watkins, Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan), Bob Schneider, JD McPherson, Calexico, Wade Bowen, Jamestown Revival, Grateful Ball featuring Travelin’ McCourys & Jeff Austin Band, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Balsam Range, Sean McConnell, Mother Falcon, and many more.
In addition to music, fest-goers can enjoy the return of the Youth Talent Competition (the inaugural winner went on to win two Grammy's, but no pressure); kids' activities and playscape with inflatables, a petting zoo, and pony rides. The specially curated artisan market will also make its return complete with a mix of local goods and imported wares. New this year is the Camp Shhhtimes, a specially curated lineup of bands and special surprises open to campers only.
In an effort to reduce the festival's carbon footprint, Old Settler's will also be offering Fest Drive, a round-trip shuttle service from Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. In Austin, attendees can board the shuttle at the Whole Foods Market flagship at 525 N. Lamar Blvd. While the $20 one-way price tag is a bit steep, it does offer pick up times that get you there before the first act, and ease the burden of parking.
Tickets — including the four-day Platinum Pass with VIP access — are on sale now and discounted through April 4. A full list of ticket packages and pricing can be found here.
