Willie Nelson teams up for dreamy new music video at Austin's favorite honky tonk
Two Austin favorites make an appearance in a new music video from up-and-coming country starlet Kacey Musgraves. Not only does The White Horse serve as the backdrop for this melancholy look at bar life, but the Red Headed Stranger himself can be heard crooning along to Musgraves' song "Are You Sure."
Released Thursday, Musgraves paints a pretty picture with her sweet voice, but Nelson has the winning line in this Austin-centric video: "So look around you and take a good look at all the local used-to-be's. Are you sure this is where you want to be?"
Although Nelson and his guitar sidekick, Trigger, perform beautifully in the short video, the real star of the show is The White Horse. With its twinkly disco ball and romantically dark interior, the Austin honky tonk provides the perfect dreamy setting for Musgraves' twangy slow tune. The White Horse is no stranger to music videos, either — the east side bar can also be seen in Shakey Graves' popular "Dearly Departed."
Musgraves is certainly making a name for herself as a revivalist of old-school country. "Are You Sure" is a hidden track off the Texas singer-songwriter's newest album Pageant Material, which came out to much acclaim earlier this summer.
