Sneak Peek at Paranormal Activity 3
Paranormal Activity 3 spooks Austin with free advance screening tomorrow
The people of Austin have spoken tweeted. In September, Paramount Pictures launched a Tweet to See It First campaign for Paranormal Activity 3, in which 20 cities would get a special screening of the film three days ahead of its October 21 nationwide release date.
The contest required fans to visit the film’s website, select their hometown and tweet about the upcoming film in order to win. Over the weekend, Austin, along with Houston, Dallas and San Antonio were announced as part of the top 20 winning cities. Fans can now RSVP to see the free advance screening here to receive location details.
Paranormal Activity 3 serves as a prequel to the Paranormal Activity trilogy, set 18 years prior to the events of the first two films. It tells the story of how sisters, Katie and Kristi came to be haunted by the ruthless demon that terrorized them in the first two films.
The first film was a nationwide hit, its success largely due to social media and word of mouth. The film was originally released to just 13 college towns across the country in 2009 and within a month, Paramount announced a nationwide release.
Paranormal Activity 3 has already garnered an 80% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes, with critics buzzing that the third installment provides more scares, thrills and even laughs than the first two ever did. While the movie may provide more of the same types of scares, half of the fun of Paranormal Activity is seeing the movie with a large group of friends in a crowded theater and witnessing everyone else's frightened reactions.
