Mark your calendar for selfies with Santa at CultureMap's Rooftop Rink

If you've been wanting to experience a quintessential winter activity like outdoor ice skating but remembered we live in Texas, we've got good news for you. CultureMap's Rooftop Rink at Whole Foods Market, presented by Frost Bank, is open now through January 20, 2020, and the whole family is welcome to come by and lace up.

Glide around al fresco, right in the heart of downtown Austin, daily from 10 am-10 pm (but be sure to check the schedule for special holiday hours).

It's a good idea to purchase tickets online in advance for $12 to guarantee a designated time slot, but don't worry if you miss your appointment — your tickets will still be honored on another day and time based on availability. Buying at the door? The cost is $15, and all tickets include skate rentals.

You'll definitely want to mark your calendar for December 20 and 21, when Santa Claus himself will be at the rink from 12-5 pm. The big man will be filling the air with his jolly laugh, and you can snap a selfie with him while you're there.

In between posing, you can warm up with hot beverages and sweet treats provided by Square Peg Coffee, including the famous chocolate-chip banana bread. For some, that's a Christmas wish come true right there.
