Austin's Got Talent
Your big break? America's Got Talent auditions come to Austin this January
Got a special skill you want to show off onstage? Acclaimed television series America's Got Talent is coming to our fair city in search of the next most talented American. Auditions will be held Jan. 14 and 15, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center.
Pre-registration is open now, so anyone looking to showcase their talent publicly and possibly land a spot on the show can sign up early.
America’s Got Talent — a spin-off of popular British reality show, Got Talent — first aired in June 2006, offering a grand prize of $1,000,000 to be paid over 40 years. Now, in addition to the monetary prize, AGT awards our nation’s most talented citizen with a stint at a Casino on the Las Vegas strip. (Which I guess is a grand prize, though maybe a bit early in one’s career to take the as a Vegas regular.)
So mark your calendars, talented Austinites. Come mid-January you will have a shot at some serious coin, temporary stardom and, most importantly, a spot next to Celine Deon in Sin City. Or just fail in hilarious fashion and become a YouTube hit. Either would be a success in this viewer’s book.
