Eagles say goodbye
The Eagles add second Austin date to farewell tour with Steely Dan
Austinites will experience one of those crazy nights in 2024 — actually, they'll experience two, because the rock legends have added another Austin show "due to overwhelming demand," according to a press release. The Eagles are bringing their The Long Goodbye tour to Moody Center on February 2, 2024, as well as February 3 as the added date.
As its name implies, the concert is the band’s farewell tour that celebrates its 50-plus year career. They’ll be joined by Steely Dan, who, like the Eagles, have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The show is the Eagles' first trip to Austin since 2022, when they played Hotel California in its entirety. They’ll also play Houston's Toyota Center on February 16, 2024.
“We hope to see as many of you as we can, before we finish up,” the band said in a statement from the original release. “Most importantly, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for embracing this band and its music. At the end of the day, you are the reason we have been able to carry on for over five decades. This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”
The band — comprised of Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill — aren't exactly the new kids in town. They have a lot of hits.
The Eagles are the best-selling act of the '70s and have sold over 150 million albums. Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album of all time with 26 million copies sold. The band's Greatest Hits 1971-1977 ranks as the top selling album of all time with more than 38 million copies sold.
The Long Goodbye tour kicks off in Atlanta on November 4. It is expected to run through 2025.
Tickets for the original February 2 show are on sale now via Ticketmaster. Tickets for the February 3 show will go on presale at 10 am on Wednesday, November 8, also via Ticketmaster. The presale ends at 10 pm on November 9 and general public sales start at 10 am on November 10.
