A record-setting 467,000 fans packed into the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) track October 23-25 for the Formula One United States Grand Prix, in its 14th year of racing in Austin, Texas.
Sunday was, by all measures, a beautiful racing day with low heat and diffused sunlight settling across COTA. Kimi Antonelli took the trophy, and all eyes are on him going into the Mexico City Grand Prix on November 1.
This year could be a historic one, depending on how Antonelli does in Mexico City. His win in Austin has given him enough of a lead in points to be the presumed winner of the F1 championship, although George Russell and Lewis Hamilton could prevail. If Antonelli places ninth or higher on November 1, he will be the youngest F1 champion on record.
Even with that extra excitement in the air, race weekend was about more than drivers' standings. We spotted interesting fashion, impressive showings by pit crews, and mixed reactions on COTA's new offerings.

Although Antonelli took home the winner’s trophy, he did not clinch the driver’s championship as some had hoped. He needed teammate George Russell to fall to 9th and ex-Mercedes world champion Lewis Hamilton to finish in 5th. Photo by Daniel Cavazos
