kyle field's first concert
King of Country George Strait picks Aggieland for only Texas date of 2024
It looks like the king of country music will be giving his loyal subjects in College Station the performance of a lifetime this summer.
Country legend (and Texas’ own) George Strait will be playing the first-ever concert at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field on June 15. Titled “George Strait: The King at Kyle,” it will feature fellow Texans Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman joining him for this in-the-round experience. “When the King calls, there’s nothing you can do but pick up,” McCollum posted on X.
These days, the 71-year-old Strait has been keeping his live appearances limited. Since his Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, the Country Music Hall of Famer has done a few shows outside of his Strait to Vegas shows at T-Mobile Arena. Houstonians will recall Strait closed out the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo in 2022 with a sold-out performance that drew over 79,000 fans.
Starting on Saturday, May 4, he’ll also do a tour of nine U.S. stadium shows with Grammy-winning country outlaw Chris Stapleton. The Kyle Field show is touted as his only performance in Texas for 2024.
This announcement comes one week after the Mexican national men’s soccer team announced Kyle Field would be included in its annual, five-city U.S. tour this year.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 am on Thursday, March 28. (American Express cardholders can purchase tickets beginning this Friday at 10 am.) For more information, visit the show’s website.
