Ellen DeGeneres says bye on final standup tour with stop in Austin

Ellen DeGeneres says goodbye.
Comedian Ellen DeGeneres is saying goodbye to touring with Ellen’s Last Stand… Up, a farewell tour that includes a stop at ACL Live at the Moody Theater on Saturday, July 13.
UPDATE - 7-3-24: DeGeneres has canceled a planned second show in Austin on July 14, although the July 13 show will still take place. She has also canceled her shows in Dallas and San Antonio.
The 21-city tour, which starts on June 19 in San Diego, California, will culminate with a taping of her show in Minneapolis, Minnesota for a to-be-named special that will debut on Netflix later in 2024.
In addition to Austin, other Texas stops include Dallas on July 10 and San Antonio on July 12.
DeGeneres, of course, is a longtime mainstay in the comedy business, having gotten her start in the early 1980s and appearing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1986.
She is best known for the sitcom Ellen, which ran from 1994 to 1998, and on which both she and her character came out as gay. She followed that up with the daytime talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which ran for almost 20 years until its end in 2022.
That ending didn't come without controversy, however, as DeGeneres was accused of fostering a "toxic work culture" at the show, allegations which led to the firing of three of the show's producers.
Tickets for the tour will be available starting with an artist presale on Thursday, May 30 ahead of the general on-sale on Friday, May 31 at 10 am at LiveNation.com.
