Blushing to celebrate new album at Hotel Vegas, plus more Austin music picks for early May

Caroline Rose at Scoot Inn – Wednesday, May 1
Caroline Rose will get the month of May off to a nice start on May 1 at the Scoot Inn. The versatile singer-songwriter, who put out an excellent album last year titled The Art of Forgetting, will be joined by Ian Sweet. Tickets are $31.
Blushing at Hotel Vegas – Thursday, May 2
Shoegaze act Blushing will put out their hotly anticipated new album, Sugarcoat, this Friday, May 2, and then celebrate its release later in the evening on the patio stage at Hotel Vegas. Ringo Deathstarr and Prehuman are on the bill as well. Tickets are $16.07.
Vinyl Beauty Bar Grand Opening Party – Friday, May 3
Vinyl Beauty Bar will open its East Cesar Chavez doors this Friday, May 3 with a grand opening party that’s set to feature a raucous pairing in Pussy Gillette and Rod Gator, plus DJ Satisfaction (Jake Garcia of The Black Angels). Tickets are $15.
Night Cap at Stubb’s – Saturday, May 4
Hot off the release of their self-titled debut album, alt-rockers Night Cap will play Stubb’s this Saturday, May 4. Openers for the evening include Krooked Kings and Jude Parrish. Tickets are $24.
Fastball at the Parish – Thursday, May 9
Get yourself to the Parish on Thursday, May 9, to join Fastball as they ring in their 30th anniversary. The Point will open the evening for the rock act behind 90s hits such as "The Way" and "Out of My Head.” Tickets are $25.
Being Dead at Chess Club – Friday, May 10
Punk-pop act Being Dead will headline Chess Club on Friday, May 10. Gummy Fang will kick off the evening, and as an additional twist, there’s also a currently unannounced special guest on the bill. Tickets are $20.08.
The Wind + The Wave at Saxon Pub – Saturday, May 11
Dwight Baker and Patty Lynn are the The Wind + The Wave, and after spending much of 2023 touring overseas, they’re back in Austin. They're set to put on an acoustic show at Saxon Pub on Saturday, May 11. Tickets are $15-25.
