Bayonne to perform with live ensemble, plus more Austin music picks for late March
Now that you’ve had a minute to recover from SXSW, it's time to support more local shows. Yes, even if you have to pay for them — but these are pretty affordable. Here’s a slew of local shows for you to attend in the back half of March.
Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol at Waterloo Records – Thursday, March 21
Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol’s release party for their new album, Big Dumb Riffs, is sold out, but you’ve still got a shot to see the metal act play this week. Just get to Waterloo Records on Thursday, March 21, for an in-store performance and a record signing. This is a free event.
Bayonne at the 04 Center – Friday, March 22
Bayonne collaborated with composer Nathaniel Earl for an orchestral version of his 2023 album, Temporary Time, and now he’s set to play it live with an ensemble at the 04 Center this Friday, March 22. You can expect two sets: The first will feature the new arrangements, and the second consists of other works by the Austin Music Awards’ 2023 Best Electronic Artist. Tickets for the show are $30.
Buzz Electro at the 13th Floor – Saturday, March 23
Head to the 13th Floor this Saturday, March 23, to celebrate the release of Wasted, the new album from throwback rockers Buzz Electro. Billy King & The Bad Bad Bad and Heartchaser will kick off the show. Tickets are $12.26.
Alejandro Escovedo at Antone’s – Friday, March 29
Ring in the release of Alejandro Escovedo’s new album, Echo Dancing, at Antone’s on Friday, March 29. Support for the long-celebrated rocker will be provided by James Mastro. Tickets for the show are $35.
Moving Panoramas & Good Field at Hotel Vegas – Saturday, March 30
Take in two of Austin’s best indie rock acts – Moving Panoramas and Good Field – at Hotel Vegas on Saturday, March 30. By the way, this is an early show (doors are at 6 pm, and music will start at 7 pm), so you’ll be home and in bed before you know it. Cover is $10 at the door.
Nakia at Stubb’s Indoors – Sunday, March 31
Singer/songwriter Nakia has readied a new single, “Thrill-O-Matic,” and the video release show is happening at Stubb’s Indoors on Sunday, March 31. Openers for the evening include Pelvis Wrestley and Junerise. Tickets are $15.
