Dog Man & More
Austin's Paramount Theatre unveils live family series for 2025-26

Dog Man: The Musical follows a chaotic story by author Dav Pilkey.
Families looking to escape screens now have a curated shortlist of live entertainment to choose from at the Paramount Theatre. Paramount Education, the theater's family and education arm, presents its 2025-26 season with seven titles featuring magic, daring stunts, bilingual programming, and more.
Programming in the series is geared toward a number of ages, starting at 5 and going all the way up to all-ages entertainment. However, all of the content is specifically targeted to kids as a baseline.
"This year’s family series represents our commitment to providing diverse, high-quality educational entertainment that speaks to audiences of all ages, backgrounds and interests," said director of education Brian Fahey in a press release. "From celebrating cultural heritage to inspiring young scientists and engineers, these productions offer something for everyone, and we look forward to kicking off the season in September."
The series opener is La Maleta De Maebelle (Maebelle's Suitcase), a bilingual performance adapted from the Reading Rainbow picture book. The story follows hat maker Maebelle and her bird friend Binkle, and thanks to its themes of friendship and heritage, it marks Hispanic Heritage Month at the King Seabrook Chapel at Huston-Tillotson University. The local Glass Half Full Theatre is bringing the show to life on Sunday, September 28 at 3 pm.
The closing performance is Ada Twist, Scientist and Friends, a musical that sheds light on STEM curriculum (science, technology, engineering, and math) through innovative fictional kids who have starred in Andrea Beaty books: Rosie Revere, Iggy Peck and Ada Twist. This one takes place at the Paramount Theatre on Sunday, March 29, at 2 pm and 4:40 pm.
There are five other titles in the series, all at the Paramount Theatre:
- October 13, 3 and 7 pm: Sugar Sull! A Día De Muertos Musical Adventure celebrates Indigenous Peoples' Day in a bilingual musical following 12-year-old Vita Flores, who learns about the holiday on a fantastical journey.
- November 2, at 4 pm: The 360 Allstars bring together world champions and world record-holding athletes from around the world for a "supercharged urban circus" with BMX, basketball, breakdancing, beatboxing, acrobatics and drumming.
- January 11 at 2 and 4:30 pm: Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About A Terrible Monster adapts Mo Willems' picture books for storytelling with hundreds of puppets. Leonardo is a monster who is trying to learn how to be scary.
- February 10 at 7 pm: Bill Blagg: The Family Magic shows off impressive illusions with a comedic flair. Some audience members might even be invited to participate.
- February 17 and 18 at 7 pm: Dog Man: The Musical adapts the book series by Dav Pilkey's that hit the silver screen in February. The production promises "hilarious" results.
