Appalachian singer Tyler Childers puts Austin on 2024 tour

Country/bluegrass/folk singer, songwriter, and musician Tyler Childers will embark on the worldwide "Mule Pull Tour" in 2024, including a stop at Moody Center on Wednesday, April 10.

Joined by his longtime band The Food Stamps, Childers will start the tour on February 15 in Dublin, Ireland, playing 10 dates in Europe before the U.S. leg, which runs from April 5 to May 29.

In addition to Austin, Childers will also play in Fort Worth on April 13. He'll be joined by special guest Hayes Carll in both Fort Worth and Austin.

The tour is in support of Childers' new album, Rustin’ In The Rain, set for release on Friday, September 8. It is his fifth album, with all four previous albums making the top 10 on the Billboard Country charts, and his last album — 2022's triple album Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? — cracking the top 10 on the Billboard 200 charts.

The lead single off of the new album, "In Your Love," stands in stark contrast to recent conservative-leaning country songs, with its video featuring two male coal miners in a relationship with one another and dealing with ill health caused by their jobs.

Born in Kentucky, the redheaded Childers is married to fellow Kentucky native and fellow singer-songwriter Senora May; his song "Lady May," which may or may not be written about his wife, is considered by some to be one of the best songs he's written.

Tickets for the U.S. dates will be available for pre-sale starting Wednesday, September 13 at 10 am through 10 pm, with general on-sale following on Friday, September 15 at 9 am. To help fans get tickets at the original prices and limit professional reseller activity, the tour will use Ticketmaster’s Face Value Exchange for resale. If needed, fans will be able to use the Exchange to resell tickets to other fans at the original price paid. Tickets for all shows will be mobile only and restricted from transfer.

Rockstar Jack White surprises Austin with show just days away

Jack White, formerly of the White Stripes, has surprised Austin with a new show date just days away. The solo artist will be playing the Mohawk on Thursday, November 14, and tickets go on sale Tuesday, November 12.

This is part of White's No Name Tour; the new portion starts in Tusla, Oklahoma, on November 12, and moves through Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio before moving on to Asia.

White will also perform the Corona Capital festival in Mexico City on November 17, where he is replacing Queens of the Stone Age as guitarist Josh Homme receives emergency medical attention. White was added to the lineup in September.

White became popular playing as a duo with his then-wife, who presented themselves in the White Stripes as siblings in the hopes of minimizing attention to their relationship and drawing it instead to the music.

The White Stripes disbanded in 2011, but have been making headlines again this week for dropping a copyright infringement lawsuit against Donald Trump for using the song "Seven Nation Army" while campaigning.

In his solo career, White has become known for songs like "Lazaretto," "Another Way to Die" (with Alicia Keys), and "Love Is Blindness," leaning into his signature gritty and sometimes chaotic sound that continues in the very bluesy 2024 album No Name.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday at 1 pm via Laylo. Fans can register in advance using the link. Pickup will be will-call only and tickets are non-transferable. A limited number of student tickets ($25) will be available at the box office starting Thursday at noon, and will be solve on a first-come first-served basis.
