Austin designer debuts new boutique at fashionable address
Local fashion designer Mallary Carroll is making her brick-and-mortar debut with a hip Central Austin boutique. Good Company is set to open March 2 and will house Carroll’s line, SBJ Austin, as well as other fashion, home, and jewelry lines for the Austin woman.
Located at 918 12th St., the former location of beloved boutique Kick Pleat, Good Company's name directly reflects its killer location and the city’s strong network of small businesses. “The minute I walked in to see the space I knew this was it,” Carroll says. “This area was such a great local landmark. Austin is so supportive and so many other store owners are too. I feel very grateful to be in the space that I’m in.”
Although Good Company may be a new endeavor for Carroll, she’s no rookie in the fashion industry. Carroll’s years of experience in retail and sales at luxe shops like ByGeorge have helped her create the ideal shopping experience. “The whole point of Good Company is what it also evokes when you walk in the store,” she says. “It has something for everyone. I like to think of it as an extension of your own closet.”
Carroll assures future customers that SBJ Austin pieces and other unique finds will ensure a top notch experience with every visit. In addition to more notable clothing brands, Carroll says she will sell pieces from upcoming designers and will often feature artists’ work. Good Company’s inventory will also include furniture and home accessories.
Good Company is more than just a place to grab an outfit — it’s a reflection of Austin style curated by an Austinite with a penchant for keeping fashion easy. “I want to make sure that customers can reach for anything at Good Company like it’s familiar and from their own closet. Style should be that easy and that’s what Good Company is all about.”
Good Company will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. Follow Good Company on Instagram for updates about the shop.
