Hipsters Rejoice
New Opening: Urban Outfitters in 2nd Street District
Well, hot damn.
The new Urban Outfitters on 2nd Street opened its doors Thursday after a 'Friends and Family' shopping event held Wednesday to christen the store and train 50 new employees.
Housed at the base of the Austin W Hotel, the store faced delays with, y'know, glass panels falling from 40 stories overhead. Luckily, they were able to meet their opening date of Aug 4.
The single story haven for hip chic is unique in its layout from most two-story Urban Outfitters, like the store on Guadalupe. The men's department is relegated to the rear of the store and novelties are front and center by the registers and ceiling to floor windows. The spacious store offers more of the same trendy comfort you love, plus a lot more dressing rooms and better acoustics.
Specific highlights we found in Urban's latest season include studded leather fanny packs, a Tiffany-Amber Thiessen a la Kelly Kapowski tee and obnoxious Southwest designs on everything from socks to hats to belts.
So, welcome to your new staple store, hipsters. Spend freely and go paint the town ironically pink.
